Murray Ewing, 2008 Ted Snyders Recepient

At the Canadian Carwash Association’s annual golf tournament in September, President Vito Cosentino presented the Ted Snyders Achievement Award to CCA Past President Murray Ewing (photo left) to recognize his significant contribution to the Association and the carwash industry.

Murray received his Chemical Technologist Degree from St. Clair College and has been involved in the truck wash industry for many, many years.

In addition to opening franchises across Canada, he developed a touchless truck wash presoak, Colorshine, to use and sell. He launched his company, Transchem Inc., to market vehicle cleaning chemicals while still operating the truck wash business. In 1987 he decided to devote all of his time to Transchem. He is committed to an extremely high level of business ethics and honesty and has consistently developed environmentally responsible products (even before “green” was a buzz word). He was a lead developer of the EcoLogo criteria for carwash chemicals and was the sole Canadian representative at the International Carwash Association’s (ICA) Chemical Summit.

The Canadian Carwash Association owes its foundation, literally, to Ted Snyders who spent all his working and volunteer life in the carwash industry. Ted finally retired six years ago at the age of 83. When asked recently what his fondest memory of the CCA was he responded with, "There's a 101 of them". However he did add, "I am amazed how much can be accomplished if you join together rather than do things separately".
